Bangalore to house largest Wipro campus
Bangalore- Wipro, India’s third largest software services company, is planning to build its largest campus which can house at least 30,000 employees in Bangalore.
Hariprasad Hegde, vice-president and global head of operations at Wipro, revealed that the master plan for the new campus is about to be finalised.
The campus will be spread across 50 acres which is located at 4 km from its existing 1.9 million sq ft campus in Sarjapur. The first phase would include 2.5 million square feet of built-up area.
The firm has not planned on consolidating operations from any of its existing campuses across India, which currently holds 138,000 employees in total. The Sarjapur campus alone accommodates over 30,000 employees.
Wipro had hired 13,000 employees in the last fiscal, compared to which it has slowed down this year.
Despite slow growth of real estate market, leading software companies in India are investing in new development centers. Tata Consultancy Services, in October, has also announced plans to build a 1.5 million sq ft facility in Indore.
Commonfloor experts say that the proposed Wipro campus will lead to further boom in real estate in Sarjapur Road. The prices of properties in Sarjapur Road are likely to observe hike shortly.
