Battle between government and L&T gets murkier
The battle between the TRS government and L&T, which is executing the metro rail project in the city, reached a new low on Wednesday with selective leaks to media houses that L&T has written to the government indicating that it wants to exit from the project and that the government should take it over and complete it on its own.
It’s reliably learnt that the government views the leak as an outright attempt to blackmail the government and earn concessions for the company. It is not that the government cannot invoke clauses in the contract that can put L&T in a spot. Also, the company should not forget the fact that it leveraged the Hyderabad metro rail project to bag two other similar international projects. If it walks away from this one, L&T would be the larger loser a government source said.
The battle between the government and the company is creating a lot of problem in executing the work. This has caused a lot of trouble and also delayed the project for a long time.
