No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Sep 11, 2014

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) would construct 2,900 houses for the Economic Weaker Section (EWS) people at Shampur and approved the slum dwellers’ rehabilitation project. The total cost of the project will be Rs 16-crore. 239 dwellers of Tarini Basti and Arabinda Basti spread over Damana, Gadakan and Chandrasekharpur will be benefitted out of this project.

The structures would be in G+4 Floors and the expenditure would be met out of State Capital Region Development Fund. Under the chairmanship of BDA Chairman and Housing and Urban Development Minister Pupendra Singh Deo a decision to this effect was taken. This decision was taken at the 127th meeting of the BDA.

The meeting also approved launching of two Group Housing Projects at Paikarapur which would have 112 two BHK, 160 one BHK and 96 three BHK houses. Approval of setting up of four BDA divisional offices at different locations of the city for delivery of service at doorsteps was also given in this meeting.

This project is in line with the Modi government’s dream of ‘’Housing for all by India’s 75th Independence day’’.  If this project turns out to be successful, then these urban poor will get a decent living with all the basic amenities. Currently these slum dwellers are living in inhabitable condition which does not have proper sanitation, drinking water, health centers, education centers etc.
