On other hand, the Jaipur metro project is lowering the increasing pollution level in a strange way. It is benefiting in those areas of city where vehicles are prohibited due to construction of metro project.

The air pollution level in Jaipur city generally drops down during the monsoon season. The pollution level is checked by measuring the quantity of respirable suspended particulate matter (RSPM) per square metre. The set standard of pollution is 100 microgram RSPM per square metre. There are total six different centres in the city to measure the level of pollution in various areas.

Chandpol generally records maximum level of RSPM. But in last two months, it dropped to below the set standards. In 2012, the RSPM level recorded in months of April, May and June was 278, 236 and 298 microgram per square meter respectively.

This drop down was due to arrival of monsoon and ongoing construction work of metro project. It lowered the level of RSPM to 147 microgram per square metre in July, 106 in August and 97 in September.

According to the officials of pollution control board, the least polluted area in city is Jhalana with RSPM around 114 microgram per square metre during the last ten months. While Sikar Road area is most polluted with RSPM around 224.8 microgram per square metre.
