BESCOM has no rights to deny power even for illegal flats!

No Comments Sub Category:Community,Municipality Posted On: Dec 30, 2011

Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) suggested that BBMP has been assigned to take care of illegal buildings.

The civic body can deny any occupancy certificate if it founds any discrepancy.

KERC also tells that BESCOM does not have any right to deny power supply to such buildings.

Whether the flat is legal or illegal, BESCOM has to provide power supply.

BESCOM had earlier approached KERC to amend a norm in 9.01 of the Conditions of Power Supply to provide completion certificate to get power supply.

But the demand was dismissed stating that unauthorised construction does not come under the domain of electricity and BBMP will take care of it.
