Bombay HC rejects plea against property tax notice
The Bombay High Court has refused to entertain a petition filed by SGS Infratech Ltd challenging the propriety of notice issued by Chief Executive Officer of Pune Cantonment Board.
The notice demanded property tax from April 1991 to March 2012 in respect of its property on the defence land. The bench stated that the petition is disposed of by keeping all the issues and contentions open.
Dinyar Madon, counsel for the petitioner, prayed that the respondents may be directed not to take coercive action for a period of eight weeks. However, the Judges rejected the plea saying that there was alternate statutory remedy available in law to the petitioner.
