Buildings along ORR to pay tax
Hyderabad- Builders and developers who are coming up with their developments on the either side of Outer Ring Road are now eligible to pay tax. The tax amount is yet not decided.
This decision was taken by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to recover the crores of rupees being spent on its development. Earlier HMDA imposed tax on motorists who use Outer Ring Road.
Radial roads offer good connectivity to urban, semi-urban and rural areas. The developers and builders are completely against of paying tax of upcoming building and projects in Hyderabad outskirts. According to the real estate developers, if this tax is paid it will automatically shift the population to the city thereby increasing population density in the city. If the projects and buildings which will come outside the city limit are offered good incentives by government then it is possible to migrate the population.
On the other hand, officials pointed out at the starving condition of HMDA. Approximately Rs 400 crore loan has been taken from Japan International Co-operation Agency to develop 33 radial roads. Once the HMDA finishes the the development work at roads, they will soon write to concerned authorities to look after the maintenance of their respective jurisdictions.
The work at roads is one time widening-cum-improvement project. The 33 radial roads which were identified for development either comes under the jurisdiction of GHMC, HMDA, Roads and Buildings, State and National Highways, or district collectorates of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nalgonda or Mahbubnagar.
Since HMDA does not have enough cash, they are taking up development of all corridors identified. They think that the widening cum development of all radial roads is not urgently required. Thus they can leave dozen out of the 33 radial roads which have less traffic volume.
