Hyderabad Metro hopefully to run in mid 2015
Hyderabad- According to Larsen & Tuobro chief, Hyderabad metro is expected to run in mid 2015.
Hyderabad metro rail project is one of the largest urban infrastructure projects in India which is under public-private partnership. This rail project will run along 71.16km distance with three corridors having 66 stations.
The first phase which connects Nagole to Miyapur. The second phase runs till Hi-tech city and the last phase connects to Mehdipatnam. Metro saves around one hour of riders to reach these phases.
The land acquisition process is almost done and demolition by GHMC will hopefully end by February 2013 after which Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) would take over the charge. AP Transco is also assigned to supply uninterrupted power to railway traction and also stations and depots.
The trail process is expected to start by end of 2014. Commercial operations will start after getting approvals. The problem of aligning the three corridors is also resolved via help of cops and re-engineering.
L&T will shortly finalize all the vendors of the project. It is planning to use their equity which is around Rs. 4,330 crore. This is the biggest ever investment of the company as compared to their other projects.
So far L & T has invested Rs. 850 crore on the Hyderabad Metro rail project. Besides this, a loan amount of worth Rs. 600 crore is also sanctioned from Yes Bank Ltd at interest rate of 11 percent. The company will soon repay around Rs 300- 500 crore in January 2013.
