Burning of Wastes added problem of Garbage Collection in Mumbai city

Recently Mumbai city municipal officials were blamed off for not collecting the waste at regular intervals, also segregation of waste were kept pending since months and this resulted in the untidy environment of the city. Meanwhile, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been traced burning off the wastes dumped in the garbage sites and this has added on to the untidiness of the city. BMC had to take words from the higher officials and the government for burning of the wastes as this act paved way for spread of air pollution, untidy roads and stink of the burnt wastes spread all over to the surrounding localities.

The civic chief reported saying that the un-segregated municipal solid waste dumped at the Deonar and Mulund dumping sites are now being cleared. Also added on saying that, Mumbai city generates nearly 2,700 MLD of sewage generated midst this, hardly 1,500 MLD is being treated and collected at regular intervals. The chief also promised to get situations back to normal as BMC has taken initiative to clear all the wastes in the city. However BMC claimed that they burnt the wastes on the backdrop of them failing to collect them at the regular intervals. Meanwhile they have admitted their mistake and have promised the residents to clear all the burnt wastes at the earliest.
