Bus bays coming up in Bhubaneswar
City buses stopping in the middle of the road has been creating much of traffic problems in Bhubaneswar. The problem is set to be tackled by the concerned authorities as 21 bus bays are set to start functioning from September 1 in the city.
According to Dream Team Sahara, which operates the buses started under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), as soon as the bays come up the buses will not be allowed to halt at places other than these designated ones.
Currently, to the ire of residents and authorities, many of these ready-to-use or under construction bays are being used as parking lots by commuters. However, the situation is expected to change from next month.
Bays are almost ready to use with PWD constructing the bays and the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) building the bus shelters.
