Bylaws to change for Greater Noida Development Authority
Landowners in Greater Noida will be hit hard if the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) changes its building bylaws. A new proposal, likely to be approved in the next board meeting, will make it mandatory for plot owners to build approved structures on their plots within five years of allotment, failing which could lead to cancellation of the allotment and confiscation of the plot by the authority.
According to sources, the decision comes following a recent case of an allottee was penalized Rs 70 lakh by GNIDA for not constructing on his plot. The allottee sought judicial reprieve, upon which, sources said, the court hauled up GNIDA for levying such a high penalty for a plot that cost only Rs 10 lakh. As a result, Greater Noida officials have henceforth decided to get strict about collecting penalties for building violations by allottees.
This new change in the bylaws is being expected to happen. But no confirmation has been given as of yet. If this change takes place the people who will have plots allotted have to build the approved structures within five years.
