Centre allocates 17 crore for slum-free project
Haryana is to get Rs 16.68 crore from the Central Government for making nine cities of the state sum free under the Rajiv Awas Yojana.
This nine cities include Gurgaon and Faridabad along with Karnal, Panchkula,Panipat, Ambala, Yamunanagar and Hisar.
An amount of Rs 1.51 crore has already been released for conducting the survey and in addition, a sum of Rs 50.99 crore is also been issued for 2013-14 for the implementation of the same scheme.
State Government has initiated this scheme to improve the civic amenities in the urban areas. Basically Rajiv Gandhi Urban Development Mission has introduced this for the beefing up of the urban infrastructure and also this is a medium to approach to make the urban local bodies inclusive of the city.
The total budget that is allocated for this is Rs 542.7 crore and it was approved on 2012-13, out of which Rs 366.26 crore have already been released to the municipalities for the various development in the urban localities.
The Government has declared it during the current financial year that the state Government has already proposed an allocation of Rs 624.11 crore in the budget for 2013-14.
