CISF plans to reduce Metro frisking time
A new step is planned by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to reduce the frisking time during the peak hours, as the crowd becomes too congested at Delhi Metro stations.
According to the officials, peak hour frisking time will soon be reduced from 8-12 to 5-6 minutes.
The main stations like Rajiv Chowk and Chandni Chowk witness the maximum amount of passengers gather at one time during peak hours leading to long queues.
The Central Industrial Security Force, which guards the metro stations, has been working on systems to bring down the frisking time.
It has also decided to deploy more personals and gadgets at selected metro stations to check passengers baggage at stations where the rush of the commuters is high. In 8-10 crowded stations, the CISF has planned to increase manpower and also asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to give more space at these stations so that they can enhance the logistics and control the crowd of the passengers.
According to the CISF DG, there are few limitations regarding space at the busy metro stations like Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Chandni Chowk and others. So the authority is trying to make more space. According to a survey, during the peak hours it takes about 8-12 minutes to clear the rush of passengers. The authority wants to cut it down to 5-6 minutes. Also metro stations need to be properly covered and brought under CCTV surveillance.
