Civil Aviation Ministry says most Air India integration issues completed
According to the information presented in the Parliament by the Civil Aviation Ministry on Tuesday, 204 of the 226 issues affecting the integration process of Air India and Indian Airlines have been completed.
The Ministry told the Parliament that integration is currently in progress on 17 issues; while five issues are pending in court.
A statement made by the Ministry in the Parliament said that “level mapping and seniority merger of the two erstwhile airlines have been completed” to a great extent. The Ministry further revealed that, for the merged entity, the draft revised basic pay and allowances for different categories of employees have been displayed on the intranet; though the implementation has been hampered because of on-going court cases.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Ministry also disclosed that the Government proposes to set up three new low-cost airports in Bihar. The proposed airports will be set up at Muzaffarpur, Raxaul and Gaya. The Ministry said that Gaya is an operational custom airport, while Raxaul will be a non-operational airport.
In addition, the development of 35 non-metro airports in the country has also been undertaken by the Government, on the basis of recommendations of the Task Force and keeping in view the airports’ potential for traffic, tourism, and business.
