Clash between Tata and Punjab Cooperative House Building Society
The PIL petitioners against the Tata Camelot township project near Sukhna Lake today pleaded in the Delhi High Court that the company had no right to go ahead with the construction as the Punjab Cooperative House Building Society (PCHBS) had terminated its agreement with the company.
The controversial project was to come up on the land of several outfits, including that of the company, the society and defence personnel. The petitioners, the Sarin Memorial Legal Aid Foundation and advocate Alok Jagga, said they had come to know that the PCHBS had revoked in June 2011 the power of attorney (POA) given to the company.
But the company had withheld this information from the HC and the SC, senior advocate PS Patwalia told the Bench.
The problem that has come up in between Tata Camelot Township and the Punjab Cooperative House Building Society would take some time before it gets sorted out. The Delhi High Court has been looking into the matter. The work has also been delayed and put to halt for a long time. The PCHBS as stated had revoked the agreement long time ago.
