Corporation gives incorrect information to residents
Coimbatore- In a written response to a resident’s petition which was sent nearly a month ago, the Coimbatore Corporation’s North Zone stated that it has repaired the streetlights in graveyard road and they are glowing well.
But in fact, the lights were not glowing for over a year, and many of them had no bulbs at all.
After two weeks of which the written response was sent to Mr. Durairajan, the resident who had complained, the Corporation had just begun the process of fitting the bulbs to the holders.
Nearby resident alleged that the van which comes to repair street lights had come after an year. Another resident complained that since the locality was dark, at nights, women find it difficult to commute. Also drunkards in the area misused the graveyard for a liquor bar and they kept moving around in intoxicated condition.
The employees of Corporation who were fixing the street lights revealed that they had been recently given the orders to maintain and repair street light in the North Zone.
Mr. Durairaj questioned that if the lights are glowing as replied by the Corporation then why it had to send the employees to fix the lights. The Assistant Commissioner, North Zone, M. Sundararajan has promised to look into the matter.
