Court warning for BBMP
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) may face charges of contempt of the court as the High Court in a hearing put BBMP under scanner for entering into a third party deal with Maverick Holdings for construction of flats for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) at Ejipura.
The Bench heard many folded petitions filed by some of the allottees questioning BBMP’s actions. The complaints put forward the fact that they have been forced to live in temporary sheds since 2007 and proposed allocation of excess flats to BBMP employees. Moreover, the open areas originally allotted to the allottees have been reduced and instead have been granted to the third party to develop commercial properties.
As the rightful allottees hold the rights for these flats, the court has ruled that the actions of BBMP may tantamount to criminal offence under these lights. The commissioner himself has been asked to personally present for the next hearing.
