Damaged Sohna road a barrier for water transportation

No Comments Sub Category:Cities,Civic Issues,Gurgaon,Maintenance Posted On: Jan 23, 2013

Broken Sohna RoadDue to the damaged Sohna road, water tankers are facing difficulty to reach the Behrampur sewage treatment plant from various construction sites.

This water supply from the Berhampur and Dhanwapur STPs started after the Punjab and Haryana High Court banned bore well water construction in the city. HUDA took the initiative to start this supply and the authority charged nominal amount for the supply of treated water from the builders.

According to a HUDA official, the damaged road off Sohna road falls under a private builder’s area and the authority has informed the builder to repair the road but this might take some time. Till then the tankers have to take a round route to reach Dhanwapur for treated sewage water.

But as per the owners of the tankers carrying water, they are not sure of the fact that the road will soon get repaired or not. Although according to records of HUDA, Behrampur STP has a huge capacity to generate treated water and Dhanwapur is way below in fulfilling the present demand.

The builders were reluctant about treated sewage water for construction purposes because they were not sure about the quality of the water. But now around 400 tankers collect the sewage water from the two STPs on any given day.

With four month at least lakhs of liters of treated water has been carried by the tankers.
