DDA offices to get a renovation
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is soon going to be restructured and in a symbolic gesture, two of its signature buildings, Vikas Sadan and Vikas Minar, will be revamped. DDA, the country’s largest land development agency, is slated to get a new avatar and there are plans to give two of its most important offices a more professional look.
Vikas Minar which is built in 1976, houses many important departments of the DDA and the Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure (Planning & Engineering) Centre (UTTIPEC). When constructed, it was the first building in Delhi to be taller than the Qutub Minar with a height of 269 feet. The building is not in a very good condition.
The renovation of Vikas Minar will be taken up after the revamp of Vikas Sadan, the DDA headquarters. Built in the 1980s, this building’s interiors resemble most government buildings with almirahs filled with dusty files and rickety furniture.
The renovations of government offices are necessary looking into fact that very little maintenance is taken over the last years. Probably after the renovations the houses will get a good professional look.
