DDCA to pay Rs 8 crore property tax
South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) is tangled in pending tax issues related to the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. However, citing a court order against any coercive action on DDCA, SDMC has become moderate about the issue.
South corporation mayor Savita Gupta told that the Delhi District Cricket Association’s (DDCA) requested the corporation to permit them to hold a cricket match at the stadium. But the corporation would accept the request only if DDCA paid at least a part of money it owed to the corporation.
Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, is one of the oldest stadium in the country after Edenes, which is still functioning properly, although the tax is been pending since several years. The due amount was pointed out by the officials of RTI, hence, another RTI application has been issued to know the latest status of the pending amount.
A total amount of Rs 8,67,52,780 is pending and south corporation had sent a final notice to DDCA for clearing property tax in January. The RTI official wanted to know whether the notice had been issued already and whether the DDCA had paid the dues.
According to reports, RTI commented that High Court has restrained the SDMC from taking any coercive action against the DDCA for not paying the dues.
The mayor had explained that she had given permission for the match even though the DDCA had not paid the pending property tax worth about Rs. 8 crore.
