Debris clean-up directed by MCG chief in Gurgaon
Praveen Kumar, MCG commissioner of Gurgaon, has directed sanitation contractors to clear all construction and demolition waste in the city immediately. He informed that once the waste is cleared than anyone found dumping construction and demolition waste in the city will be fined Rs. 25,000. Four transit sites have been indentified for collecting and dumping the waste — Choma, Gadoli Kalan, Mullahera and Kherki Majra villages. Till the time a construction and demolition waste processing plant is set up in the city, the contractors will dump at these sites.
Some sanitation workers staged a protest outside the MCG office claiming that they have not been paid.
An official informed that there are nine different sanitation contractors and together they employ around 1500 workers. The commissioner has directed them to pay Rs 8100 per month to each employee, as decided by the state government. They have also been directed to video-record the payment being made. Eventually the transfer will be made directly to the bank account.
