Delhi and NCR: Slum dwellers’ body moves to HC against DDA

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Sep 04, 2014

DDA’s new housing scheme received a huge response from the citizens; however the slum dwellers are not happy about it. A body of dwellers of slum clusters has moved to the Delhi High Court, challenging the DDA’s new housing scheme.

The JJ clusters’ dwellers welfare association is very upset about a DDA decision. They claimed that 2,400 ready flats in Dwarka which were built to relocate the slum dwellers under the economically weaker section (EWS) scheme have been included for allotment to general public.

On Tuesday this case came up for hearing before Justice VK Shali. The justice asked the Shiv Camp W-62 JJ Cluster Dwellers Welfare Association to establish their locus to challenge the housing scheme. The HC posted the case for further hearing on September 24. As of now the HC has declined to issue any notice to the city government and DDA over the petition.

In August last year, DDA had decided to allot its EWS house to the JJ cluster dwellers. In its petition, the association has claimed about this decision of DDA and has expressed its anguish over DDA’s failure of not being able to abide by it.

The associations are seeking allotment of 2,382 flats, which are the part of the DDA’s 2014 housing scheme, to the slum dwellers. These slum dwellers are residing in Shankar Garden and Indra Camp No 2, 4, and 5 at Vikaspuri. This was included in the eligibility list prepared by DDA in August last year.
