Delhi and NCR: The DDA site crashed after a whopping response after the launch of its mega housing scheme
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on September 2 restored its online service. A massive response to its mega housing scheme had crashed the official website. Since the launch of the housing scheme on Sep 2, the website received a whopping 18.25 lakh hits. The top officials of the Authority mentioned that in this housing scheme, over 25,000 flats have been offered.
The officials also mentioned that the original site was not designed thinking that the traffic will be so high. They also mentioned that all the online services have been restored and the server was being upgraded to handle the “exponentially increased” user traffic.
DDA is the official website of the DDA and the website crashed yesterday after receiving over five lakh hits within a few hours of the scheme’s launch. V S Tomar the Director of Systems at DDA informed the media that they received a total of 11 lakh hits on the day of the launch. Their website usually gets between 2.5 to 3 thousand online users otherwise. Hence it was too much for the site to handle and for obvious reasons it crashed.
In some way it talks about the lack of vision from DDA. They should have anticipated that the traffic will increase after the launch of the mega housing scheme. They should have taken precautionary measures. Overall in the first two days the site received 18.25 lakh hits.
