Delhi govt to freeze demolition of illegal colonies
As assembly poll is approaching closer, Delhi government is planning to freeze all the sealing and demolition of residential and commercial properties in the city.
Under the supervision of Shiela Dixit, this particular topic was raised and discussed very recently. According to sources, CM does not want to carry on such action now in the residential areas, even if they are unauthorized colonies.
As per reports, the government is planning to make guidelines which will stop the complete procedure of sealing and demolition.
Residents of these illegal colonies were at ease as in December 2011, the Parliament had given them time period of three years from sealing and demolishing their commercial and residential properties.
However, officials said despite the Parliament’s order, demolition and sealing have been taking place in illegal colonies. Hence, the city government is planning to come out with new regulations.
As per the the National Capital Territory of Delhi Laws (Special Provision), status quo will be maintained up to 2014-end with regard to unauthorised colonies including village abadis (settlements) and their extensions, storages, warehouses and godowns for farm produce, among others.
Commercial establishments operating illegally in farm houses and other places in nearly 400 rural areas have been relieved from sealing and demolition as per the legislation.
CM feels that even if it is in unauthorized colonies, still those people have invested the hard earned money to build houses or shops. Hence she is insisting on not demolishing even a single such structure.
