Delhi Metro ridership on Aug 4 was 27.1 lakh; the highest thus far
According to the latest statistics shared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the Delhi Metro ridership touched 27.1 lakh on Monday, August 4; marking the highest number of commuters to have travelled on the Metro thus far in one day. The previous highest Delhi Metro ridership record was 26 lakh commuters.
With regard to the record-high Delhi Metro ridership figures on Monday, DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal said that, with a total of 10,23,245 commuters, the highest number of commuters was recorded between Dwarka Sector 21 and Noida City Centre/Vaishali.
Dayal also said that 9,62,428 commuters travelled between Jahangirpuri to HUDA City Centre on Delhi Metro on Monday; while 3,82,188 commuters travelled from Dilshad Garden to Rithala.
Furthermore, as per Dayal, passenger footfall has witnessed a notable increase on the Central Secretariat via Mandi House to Badarpur line on the new extension of line 6 (Badarpur-Central Secretariat) up to Mandi House.
About the efforts undertaken by the DMRC to tackle the increasing Delhi Metro ridership, Dayal said that “DMRC has taken a slew of measures,” and elaborated: “A total of 136 coaches have been added since last year to covert four-coach trains into six-coach ones and six-coach trains into eight-coach trains on different lines.”
