No Comments Sub Category:Community,Municipality Posted On: Nov 15, 2011

New Delhi is no where rescued from water woes in the residential areas. Residents in several parts of Delhi are forced to go without water for several weeks at a stretch. The residents complain over purchasing water form the private tankers even though their colonies are under the rule of Delhi development authority (DDA). The fed up residents wrote a memorandum to DDA previous week to get the needful done at the earliest. Rajesh Singh a resident belonging to sector 25 said that, the acute water shortage problem has emerged since a year and now the water woes seem to have worsened the conditions of the locality.

He complains over spending around Rs. 1000 to purchase water on weekly basis. The main reason for ongoing water woes is that these colonies are not considered under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The resident welfare association informed to have mentioned the service provided by DDA to the residents, how the water suppliers manage the water supply in individual areas and the residents have also warned the authority to do the needful. If the government fails to do so, the residents have pledged to stage an agitation.
