Demand for Gujarat Bhawan accepted by present government
The central government which is being led by NDA is in process of allotting a 7000 sq metre plot in Lutyen’s Delhi to Gujarat for the construction of another bhavan (guesthouse), a demand that had been rejected earlier by the UPA regime.
Soon after taking over as the Gujarat Chief Minister, Anandiben Patel had written to the Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu requesting for a 4,000-5,000 sq metres anywhere in central Delhi to construct another guesthouse for Gujarat. The search of the plot had started soon after that.
The ministry has already been able to identity a 7,000 sq metre space on Akbar Road, which will be allotted to the Gujarat government once the Cabinet approves it. No announcement has been made on when the work will start however it is being expected that as soon as the approval is received from the cabinet the first phase constructional work will commence. The demand for a guest house had previously been sighted by the Gujarat government and was refused however the NDA led government has given a green signal for the construction of this guest house that will be appointed to Gujarat.
