DPR of Kochi Metro Phase-II to be submitted shortly
Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has revealed in a recent statement that the detailed project report (DPR) of the Kochi Metro Rail Phase-II will be submitted shortly. The project involves the expansion of the reach of Kochi Metro to Cochin International Airport and Angamaly town.
According to the details shared by the KMRL, the DPR of the Kochi Metro Rail Phase-II is in the final stages, and is being readied for submission in the near future. With Phase-II of the Kochi Metro to connect the north and western suburbs of Kochi, the KMRL said that, for the DPR, a feasibility study was carried out by Indian Railways-run Rites, which will submit its report soon.
The feasibility study conducted by Rites chiefly pertained to three prospective Phase-II routes for the Kochi Metro — Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium to Infopark (Kakkanad); Aluva to Cochin International Airport and Angamaly, as well as to western Kochi.
Going by a recent press release by the KMRL, the DPR for connecting International stadium -Kakkanad has already been prepared by Rites. The DPR for the other two routes will also likely be finalised shortly.
Meanwhile, the extension of Phase-I to Infopark (Kakkanad) – a move which will involve an estimated cost of Rs 1,600 crore – has already been approved by the KMRL board.
