East Delhi gets its first newly authorised colony

No Comments Sub Category:Awareness,Cities,Community,Delhi-NCR,Uncategorized Posted On: Apr 08, 2013

The layout of East Azad Nagar in Delhi has been approved by the civic authorities and it has become the first newly authorised colony since 1976. It is one among the 895 colonies which has been regularized last year by Delhi government.

This will allow the residents of the East Azad Nagar area to legally alter the existing structure or carry out new constructions after they get their building plans approved. Now, they are even allowed to sell and purchase properties in the area.

Commissioner of East corporation has said that as per the layout plan, the public services will be marked in the master plan. He says that the layout plan was actually finalised by the RWA with the technical help from Jamia Millia Islamia. He also gives a hint that the widening of roads will not lead to the demolition of the houses immediately.

Lot of issues are going on between the Congress-led Delhi government and BJP-ruled civic agencies regarding the layout plans in these colonies.

The commissioner said that 83 plots each have a measurement of 3.5 acres have been demarcated. The layout has been prepared in such a way so that proper space should be available for services such as parks and schools.

The commissioner said that the regularisation process, which began almost 10 years ago, took time as several difficult procedures were involved. For the process it is required to have detailed planning, guidelines needed to be finalised, aerial photographs needed, and surveys had to be conducted by the deputy commissioners and sub-divisional magistrates.

The East Corporation has taken six colonies in their initial project as of now. They are now waiting for the official handover of the plans by RWA of another three colonies. Later, it will take around a week to get regularised. The two plans submitted by them have already been submitted to DDA for any change in land use, he commented.
