Exceptional bills to be detected by the DJB online billing system
New Delhi- In a latest innovation by the Delhi Jal Board, the errors of an increased or a decreased bill will be sorted out by the exceptional billing account which is the new online billing system.
According to Debashree Mukherjee, CEO, DJB, they had planned to launch the portal during the first billing cycle but were not able to as they did not have the previous records of the consumers. They have the details of about 17 lakh consumers and that the database is being compiled.
However, once their system is ready to detect a different billing amount, the bill will be then directed to another account. This in turn will save the consumers from going to the zonal offices for correction purposes. To make this service more convenient, customer’s contact number has been taken which will be further linked with the consumer grievance cell.
In case of default amounts, the consumers can quote their mobile number to the staff and the bill alerts will also be sent to the customers numbers. Further the payment will be done through kiosks which will be set up in 36 zonal revenue offices operating from 8am and 8pm.
