France plans to offer its expertise in urban development to build the new age cities in India. When the NaMo government announced the plans to make 100 smart cities in the country, this European country quickly jumped to the business opportunity and contacted the officials in India to express its interest.

A team of officials led by the French Counsel General Jean Raphael Peytregnet, is on a two-day visit to Nagpur. During this visit this delegation will hold talks with the mayor. Peytregnet said that the basic object is to explore the possibility of cooperation in the urban development.

The country which is proud of its culture and heritage in the Europe is looking forward to increase its bilateral ties with India. Peytregnet mentioned that since each city may have a different requirement, they are looking more at the tailor-made solutions than the one size fits all solutions. France is known for its tailor made approach, be it in fashion, architecture, art or in technology.

Peytregnet mentioned that New Delhi will also host a convention of architects in November this year. The team expressed its interest to visit other tier II and tier III cities apart from exploring the options in Mumbai and the national capital. The PM of France also explained that there is immense scope for developing modern infrastructure in India.
