Garden City Bangalore will soon be Garbage City
The residents are also blame-able for the prevailing conditions of the city. Bangalore city has been witnessing overflowing garbage, dumped on the city roads. The residents blame the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for not clearing the garbage for months together. The BBMP garbage collectors intern blames the residents of the city for dumping the garbage according to their wish and will. Bangalore city generates nearly 4,000 tonnes of garbage everyday and the BBMP has sufficient man and machines to work upon them. Despite of all these facilities the garden city is fast ahead to convert into garbage city. Over all these, the city civic bodies have failed miserably in having a thorough check on the BBMP works.
However the city civic body has decided to implement new norms to clean up all the mess protruding on the city roads. BBMP officials claim that the biggest problem faced by them is the segregation of the wet and dry garbage. They also complaint that, even on behalf of them providing separate colored bins for the residents to dump dry and wet wastes, the residents are least bothered follow up the same, henceforth garbage segregation has become a major headache for the waste collectors in the city. Here the city is suffering and lacking behind in its infrastructure and maintenance midst the residents and the BBPM. The civic body expects the BBMP and residents of the city to co-operate each other for Bangalore to remain as a Garden City only.
