GHMC not bothered about the upcoming monsoon
As monsoon is on its way for many parts of India, it looks like GHMC Hyderabad is not bothered to get prepared to face the monsoon.
There are still many places in the city where desiltation of the nalas is only half done and the civic body’s disaster management cell do not have enough manpower to repair the same and handle water logging and other issues.
Recently, when rains hit the city at 4 cms, there were witnesses of long traffic jams and other chaos on the road.
Residents in the low-lying areas witnessed major traffic chaos and water flooding on roads due to desilting of nalas remaining undone, indiscriminate road cutting and battered roads all over.
The desiltation of the drains which was supposed to be over by May 31 is still remaining unfinished and GHMC officials have to say the only way these work can be finished by remodeling the whole structure and routing of the lakes in the city.
