Govt set to invite bids for smart city projects in Gujarat, MP, Greater Noida
The Union Government apparently has efforts underway to invite bids for building smart cities in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Greater Noida regions, within the current financial year.
The regions for which the Govt is readying to invite bids for development of smart cities include Dholera investment region in Gujarat; Vikram Udyogpuri in Madhya Pradesh, along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC); and integrated industrial townships in Greater Noida.
The bids for the proposed smart city project in the Gujarat region will likely be invited by the Govt by the end of 2014; while the bids for the smart city projects in Madhya Pradesh and Greater Noida will invited by March 2015.
In addition to these three smart city projects, the govt will also invite bids for another project — the Shendra Bidkin industrial zone in Maharashtra. The bids for that project will be invited by mid-2015.
With regard to the Govt’s ongoing efforts to give shape to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building smart cities, DMIC CEO Tallen Kumar said: “We are ready to roll out two projects and an industrial zone. We are progressing very fast. A lot of countries including Germany, UK, USA and Korea have shown interest to participate in the industrial townships.”
