Gurgaon Budget prepared last Wednesday
The 2014 to 2015 Budget of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon was finally tabled last Wednesday amidst the existing unrest amongst ward councillors. Of the overall budget, which is around Rs 889 crore, Rs 500 crore has been set aside solely for infrastructural projects like underpasses, flyovers, roads and bridges while Rs 70 crore has been earmarked for schemes for economically weaker sections (EWS).
However Sunita Kataria who is the councillor of ward five, and other ward councillors stalled the Budget session for 30 minutes, demanding that Rs 35 crore of Rs 70 crore set for EWS be given to them so that it can be used according to the specific needs of the wards.
To tackle poor sanitation conditions in the city, around Rs 40 crore has been allocated to purchase sanitation equipment, including mechanical sweeping machines and biometric machines. All this will be implemented soon from this month itself. The proper budget plan was required at urgent to meet the needs of the city which it was lacking from. Other needs like infrastructural projects and flyovers and schemes for the weaker sections will also be implemented from the upcoming month.
