property tax-Delhi/NCR: The complaints of the residents over travelling a long distance to pay tax has paved way as the tax payment has been made easier by the MCG. The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG)  has come up with a decision to revamp the complete house tax payment system.

The MCG has merged with various private banks making the payment facility available. The first bank to be tied up with is the Oriental Bank of Commerce which will commence from January 1, 2013. This will be followed by 20 branches of the bank having the payment facility available across the city.

The MCG is in talks with other banks for their tie ups and making the facilities available there as well. The Commissioner of MCG, Vijay Singh Dahiya stated that the facility will have a banking representative at the branch to help the residents complete the self-assessment form which will be  freely available at all the branches and further guide them about the tax payment procedures. House tax payment can be done by cash, cheques and demand drafts.

Furthermore, the MCG is also working on making the payment a digital one by uploading the self assessment forms online in English and Hindi languages. This will be further upgraded by a ready tax calculator online which can help the residents to know about the tax amount to be paid. Also for tax payers who have not yet paid their taxes, the MCG has requested the state government to extend this amnesty scheme till March 2013.
