Hearing on NH-8 encroachment in September
The Punjab and Haryana High Court is expected to announce its final order on September 15 in the case of encroachment on the green belt near Ambience mall and Neha nursery on NH-8. Three different cases of encroachment on NH-8, by the nursery, the mall, and shop owner, are being heard by a two-judge bench headed by acting chief justice Ashutosh Mohunta.
These litigations are seen as major stumbling blocks in HUDA-DLF’s 16-lane signal-free highway project that proposes to connect NH-8 with Golf Couse Road in Sector 55-56. Though work is already on in full swing at various stretches of the road, such as near DLF Phase II, Sikanderpur Ghosi and Cyber City, it has not yet kicked off at the starting point near Ambience mall.
The alleged encroachments are preventing work from commencing at the starting point of this 8.3 km long highway, which would comprise eight underpasses and a flyover, on the Delhi side.
This final order will let know as what will happen regarding the encroachment activities in the green belt on NH-8.
