Hi-tech police station with gym, lounge, Wi-Fi gets approval in Delhi
New-Delhi- A proposal which was made two years ago about initiating a hi-tech police station in Delhi has finally got a clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Delhi police is all set to initiate its first hi-tech police station with a gym, a lounge and Wi-Fi services. This police station will be set up at Indira Gandhi International Airport this year.
According to a higher police personnel, they have decided to set up a modern and aesthetic building which will apparently match the decor of the new airport-Terminal 3.
The police station which will house the IGI and the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGIA) will be a multi-storeyed building. However, the contract for the construction of this project has been given to the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) Ltd. A sum of Rs. 5 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of this project by the MHA.
As per sources, the construction is awaiting a number of approvals which once approved will begin the work in March end. Detailed provisions for innumerable amenities are to be provided at the police station for the building to be constructed with international standards.
The hi-tech police station will be constructed next to the multi-level car parking facility at Terminal 3 of the IGI Airport.
The officer also stated that they wanted the new police station to be visible as the current police station is far from the T3. Owing to this, most of the time various visitors and foreign nationals find it quite difficult to locate the police station. Perhaps most of the visitors have no idea about the police station due to its invisibility. However, the new police station will help people view it from inside the T3.
The new police station will have separate lounges for officers, visitors and complainants.
