Highest point of metro to be 23.6 metres in Delhi
The Metro viaduct that is located in between the South Campus and Delhi Cantt Metro stations of the under-construction 59-km-long Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor is being looked at as a major engineering achievement for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), as the viaduct will be constructed without hampering the movement of trains on the Airport Line and the road traffic which is the Ring Road-Sardar Patel Marg below.
The corridor of Metro’s Phase III is said to be crossing over the existing alignment of the Airport Express line at Dhaula Kuan, said a senior Metro office. The height of this viaduct is slated to be 23.6 metres and is as high as a 7 storey building. This is going to be one of the highest points of the Delhi Metro as far by overlooking Karkarduma where the Metro is 19 metres above the ground.
The work will be done at a high risk, so in order to ensure the safety of the workers the DMRC authorities have planned to install CCTV cameras on the viaduct of the Airport Line.
