HMDA issues notices to unauthorized constructions
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has decided to check on the illegal/unauthorized constructions that are growing in the surrounding gram panchayats. In a strict gesture, it has served notices to as many as 3,000 owners and builders of illegal buildings above three floors.
According to the building rules, gram panchayats can give building permissions up to ground plus two floors and if the building is above G+2, the building owner has to take permission from the HMDA. However, lots of buildings have sprung up flaying the norms.
Notices were issued to gram panchayat of the four zones of Shamshabad, Shankarpally, Medchal and Ghatkesar to take action against the unauthorized structures. Since currently the HMDA does not have any enforcement wing, it plans to open an enforcement wing for taking up demolition drive against builders.
