House tax calculations to go online in Gurgaon
Gurgaon- Now, the residents of Gurgaon can soon correct their discrepancies and objections of house tax assessment themselves by using municipal corporation web portal.
This decision was taken by authorities of Municipal Corporation, Gurgaon (MCG) as it could not resolve thousands of pending objections. The house tax assessments were sent to residents by the municipal corporation in a time-bound manner.
Several teams were formed to resolve these objections raised by customers, but they failed to do so. There are more than 50,000 pending objections which are still to be addressed, say sources.
Earlier, the joint commissioner was supposed to resolve these pending objections. But later on, this job was handed to area ward councillor which even did not show much progress.
According to a MCG official, majority of objections received are related to correction of name and house address. He added that the even the best efforts of corporation is not helping anyway.
The MCG authorities are now planning to take help of available technology to let property owners to resolve these objections on their own. They believe that residents can themselves correct their discrepancies on municipal corporation web portal.
The residents will soon be able to correct their names and addresses, among other things, and submit them online. However, they cannot change the locality where the property is registered.
The house tax assessment was carried out by a private agency. During assessment many discrepancies propped up which is not letting residents to pay up property tax. The correction of these mistakes will make all things set right.
Currently, the corporation authorities are on initial phase of planning and believe that this decision will help them to resolve all pending objections.
