NDMC took serious steps to collect property tax
North Delhi Municipal corporation has been carrying out an identification technique in order to register all the unregistered properties in the city. Around 60,000 new properties have been registered with NDMC under the tax net within the past one year. Soon tax defaulters will be sent notice by post by the municipal corporation.
With the addition of new properties, the number of taxpayers in the municipal body has gone up to 3.66 lakh. The total revenue of property tax is set to rise because some of the properties that have been recognized are yet to make their payments.
The North Corporation is carrying out drives to identify unregistered properties. The search is still on, so it is expected that more properties under the tax net will be registered soon. Maximum new properties in Delhi have been registered from Rohini Zone.
This drive is expected to help the corporation to collect Rs 350 crore, which is their target for this financial year, although till now only Rs 24 crore has been collected.
To encourage the employees of the property tax department, NDMC awarded some of the staff members for outstanding performance as they achieved the fixed target for property tax collection.
The corporation is also striving to increase the efficiency of the property tax process. It is looking to bring a scheme through which property tax bills can be sent to homes.
