Huda to check on rainwater harvesting in state
To check the depleting groundwater level, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has come up with a plan to constitute a special committee.
The committee is to be headed by two superintending engineers (SEs) who will visit houses in Gurgaon to check defunct water harvesting pits.
As per norms, to obtain a completion certificate from the town planning department, the owner has to implement rainwater harvesting on plots of 200 sq yard and above.
Now the Huda authority has decided to plan out a strict plan under which the owner can be booked if the rainwater harvesting pit is not found on the premises of houses of 200 sq. yard and above. Besides, sewer and water supply will also be disconnected to the premise if the harvesting pit is found defunct.
Huda has also drifted a contract to construct nearly 317 pits in open areas such as parks, green belts, and shopping centers to address the water scarcity.
