Hyderabad corporation needs more time to clear BPS applications
Hyderabad- The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to take more time to clear the pending Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) applications.
This happened because the melas conducted for this purposes did not prove fruitful. The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department asked the Hyderabad corporation to clear 27,000 applications by December 31, 2012. But GHMC has completed only 5,800 Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) applications since July, 2012.
The corporation has collected only Rs 45 crore of the balance penal amount. GHMC officials defended themselves by blaming house owners who gave slow responses in last five months. To clear over 22,000 pending BPS applications, Hyderabad corporation is planning to take approval from state government. For this purpose a letter will be send to MA and UD very soon.
According to the officials pending applicants include those who have not submitted documents like structural stability certificate, provide title documents and urban land ceiling clearance for releasing final approval and applicants who have paid partial payments of their penal amounts.
Application of the circles like Kukatpally, Serilingampally in West Zone, LB Nagar, Kapra and Uppal circles in East Zone, Secunderabad, Alwal and Malkajgiri in North Zone were pending to be cleared. Applications of the circles like LB Nagar and Kukatpally circles will be cleared with utmost care. It is because there were many complaints of fake and forged BPS certificates.
Some BPS applicants have not received their regularization certificate despite of full payment of penal amount along with documents. Such complaints have also been filed. Officials have asked for a weeks time to verify all the documents and clear all matters.
