In Nashik Property tax collection rises by 14%
During the current financial year 2013-14, the property tax collected by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has increased by 14.37% as compared to last year’s figures.
In the financial year, the NMC has collected property tax amounting to Rs 71.74 crore, which is 14.37% more than the previous financial year. In 2012-13, NMC had collected Rs 62.73 crore.
An official from the NMC said we were able to collected property tax of Rs 71.74 crore out of the set property tax collection target of Rs 105.68 crore for this year. In comparison to the property tax collected in the previous year, the collection has increased by 14.37%.
Final notices have been issued by the civic body to around 47,259 property tax defaulters, giving them an ultimatum of five days to pay their taxes. But only 12,620 defaulters ended up paid their dues. Warrants have been issued to 822 property tax defaulters by the NMC, giving them and target of 21 days to pay their arrears or else face action of confiscation of their movable and immovable properties.
Information is being collected about the number of defaulters who have paid their taxes. Shortly, the decision about taking action against defaulters will be taken.
Across the six divisions of the NMC, at present, there are 3.67 lakh properties counting 72,035 properties in Nashik east division, 34,872 in Nashik west, 74,113 in Panchavati, 63,674 in Nashik Road, 39,921 in Satpur and 83,003 properties in Cidco division.
Decline of Water tax collection by 11.06%
Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), water tax collection across its six divisions, conversely, has decreased by 11.06% to Rs 34.55 crore in the current fiscal year 2013-14, in comparison to last year’s collection of Rs 38.85 crore.
An official mentioned, as compared to previous year, the water tax collection for the current fiscal has declined by 11.06%. During November to January in the last fiscal (2013-14), most of our staff was occupied in economic, industrial and the other backward classes census, because of which, our water tax collection decreased. But we hope to achieve the targets in 2014-15.
