Intensive cleaning drive in ST Bed Layout
The Ejipura Ward Corporator Saroja Veerappa who noted the irregularities in cleaning the roads and clearing the garbage undertook an intensive cleaning drive in association with the BBMP and ST Bed Residents’ Welfare Association. ST Bed RWA president Rajendra Babu stated that some of the vacant sites had become the dumping ground for garbage and wanted BBMP to clear it.
Ananthram, secretary, complained about improper covering of road side drains resulting in accumulation of silt. The Corporator took note of the civic issues and promised action. Senior Health Inspector Gangappa informed the residents about the action initiated to weed out the mosquito menace, especially in the wake of Dengue fever prevailing in some parts of the city.
Gangappa urged the residents not to let rain water to stagnate in their premises or terrace as the mosquitoes that cause the Dengue breed in fresh water rather than in polluted water. Rajendra Babu requested the Corporator to have such drive once in a month so that it is beneficial to the residents and it would also help the Corporator to understand the problems in the area much better.
Intensive cleaning drive involved cleaning the roads, clearing the debris and spraying of disinfectants and insecticides. Corporator Saroja Veerappa took the lead in organising the drive. She was accompanied by ST Bed RWA members and BBMP’s health, Environment and Engineering department officials.
