It’s corporates’ turn to clean lakes in Bangalore
Bangalore- Over 40 employees of Deloitte gathered on the banks of Ulsoor and Uttarahalli lakes in order to clean them up.
Joining hands with the United Way Bengaluru’s ‘Wake the Lake’ campaign, the employees stepped forward to clean up the natural water bodies. The day was observed as the corporates’ annual Impact Day which is a community investment event.
One batch of employees at Ulsoor Lake cleared weeds in the banks and walkways, cleaned the kids play area and painted the play equipments, while another batch cleaned up Uttarahalli Lake surroundings and planted young plants.
Such activities of rejuvenating water bodies are becoming an integral part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Last week, employees of Thomson Reuters had cleaned the Ulsoor Lake.
Afzal Sulaiman, MD, Deloitte Consulting in Bangalore said that our aim is to involve communities and maintain the water bodies in a nourishing condition which would otherwise transform the city into an unfit place to live for the upcoming generations. Although it is the duty of civic bodies, every individual has to do his bit in this regard.
