KMC held for cutting down trees
The roots of the trees in Kolkata is mercilessly being chopped by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) private contractors.
The residents of apartments in Kolkata were left shell-shocked when they noticed 20 feet trees being axed down mercilessly.
Meanwhile, none of the shop persons were even bothered to stop or protest the tree being pulled down.
Later on it was learnt that the trees were being cut down to provide enough firewood to fuel the tar melting machine.
When asked the KMC member mayor-in-council in concern with this issue replied back saying that they had no idea that the trees were being cut down for firewood purpose.
However, the KMC officer has promised to look after the issue and take strict action against the private contractors.
