Kolkata Highway Roads foreboding its Commuters
Recently Mamata Banerjee had written to the high court in concern with the potholes and non-widening of the highway roads in Calcutta re-named as Kolkata . The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has replied back for her stating that they are no where in picture taking blame for all the complaints over the city highway roads as the land acquisition is increasing everyday around the highway limits.
This seems to be a major draw back for the NHAI officials leaving the roads unrepairable. Meanwhile the chief general manager, A. Ahluwalia in Calcutta has requested NHAI to at-least maintain the highway roads till the Public Work Department (PWD) takes initiative of repairing the potholes. One of the PWD official reported saying that they will soon take initiative to correct the potholes that has been widely stretched on the highway roads.
Also the potholes are seemed to be very largely formed that every commuter is ending up getting into the huge potholes. Officials themselves feel sad for the situation on the highway roads. Transportation has been prolonged everyday with the commuters are facing lot of inconvenience and also these potholes which are gradually gaining the size of craters are also causing threat to the commuters life.
