L&T Hyderabad Metro rail project sets new construction record
The L&T Hyderabad Metro rail project has successfully erected the 1,000th viaduct span and completed work on 27 km of metro viaduct in barely 20 months — thereby setting a new construction record!
The noteworthy milestone was recently achieved by the Hyderabad Metro rail project when the 1,000th viaduct span was erected. The erection of the first span – out of a total of 2,665 spans to be erected on 72 km Hyderabad Metro stretch – was undertaken in December 2012.
According to a statement from Hyderabad Metro, the record achievement with regard to completion of 39 percent viaduct span erection in almost 20 months is highly impressive, especially given the fact that Mumbai took nearly seven years for completing 11 km of Metro viaduct; while Bangalore and Chennai took more than 5 years to complete almost 25 km of viaduct each; and Delhi took over 3 years for the same viaduct work.
With the new construction record set by L&T Hyderabad Metro rail project, Hyderabad Metro’s Managing Director NVS Reddy informed about the engineering feat to Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao, who congratulated the team of engineers in HMR and L&T.
Reddy also revealed that, as on date 1,473 foundations (56 per cent), and 1,370 pillars (52 per cent) have been successfully completed for the Hyderabad Metro rail project, which has already won a number of awards, including ‘The Global Engineering Project of the Year.’
